Aloha from Hawaii!!! I hope you are all having a fantastic week so far. I am currently writing this from a tablet so if it looks a little weird for you guys, I apologize! So interestingly sucky fact about Hawaii, they’re radio stations are basically nonexistent. 50% of the time only 2 radio stations come in and the songs that play on them are less than ideal. That means my sister and I have been putting our Pandora & Spotify stations to good use. I’ve got a few songs that have popped up lately (two of which I have shared on here already but I am hoping you’ll enjoy regardless!). Next week’s Tune In Tuesday will be a little random and put together on a tablet as well so sorry in advance guys. I hope you all have a great week and happy listening!

So I thought I would have a little bit of fun with today’s post. Last year around Halloween time, I made up a music post in which I posted a lot of music that reminded me of Halloween because I found it chilling, haunting, or down-right creepy. Today I am doing something sort of the same, but also not really. Instead of the actual songs reminding me of Halloween, today’s songs have names that remind me of Halloween. The result is…eclectic to say the least. I hope you enjoy!

NOVEMBER’S THEME IS…..

Tune In Tuesday 90s Edition

Since November is my birth month and the 90’s is my birth decade, I thought t would be fitting to make November “Tune In Tuesday: 90’s Edition.” For those of you just tuning in, we like to switch it up every other month by having a special theme for Tune In Tuesday. This special theme is by no means required just a way to make Tune In Tuesday extra fun. I hope you all have been brushing up on your old school hip hop, boy bands, grunge, and punk. I cannot wait to see what songs you have to share!

This week I have a random mix of awesome. I hope you all enjoy!

I Can’t Make You Love Me/Nick Of Time by Bon Iver (Original by Bonnie Raitt)

Last week I shared a cover of a Bon Iver song and this week I couldn’t help but share Bon Iver covering a song. I love the original but I love his version just a bit more!

Don’t You (Forget About Me) by KT Tunstall (Original by Simple Minds)

To me, nothing could EVER top the original song. I mean, it is simple perfection. BUT I love how incredibly different KT made it for her version.

Just Like Heaven by AFI (Original by The Cure)

If you’ve been to the blog before then odds are you know how big of a fan-girl I am of all things The Cure. AFI didn’t change up the song a whole lot which is why I think I like it as a cover. Just Like Heaven is pretty much perfect the way it is.

Heartless by The Fray (Original by Kanye West)

I love this cover so much more than the original partly because I cannot stand Kanye (he really does have some pretty catchy songs but his personality makes it awfully hard for me to enjoy them. Sad but true.) and also partly because I love The Fray.

Radioactive by Lindsey Stirling & Pentatonix (Original by Imagine Dragons)

I absolutely adore this cover to pieces. The classical instruments mixed with the lyrics give off this incredible, haunting vibe. However if I am being totally honest, basically ANYTHING Lindsey cover with her violin turns out to be a favorite of mine. Also, I get to see Imagine Dragons in concert tonight (squee!!!) so I had to honor them somehow!

Blog Tour + Guest Post + Book Playlist + Giveaway: Interred by Marilyn Almodóvar

Interred

Title: Interred (Chronicles of the Interred #1)

Author: Marilyn Almodóvar

Publisher: Iambe Books

Cover Artist: Devan Edwards of Nimbi Designs

Time has never been an issue for Baxter Jacobs, but then she never knew she had the ability to Bend it.

As her sixteenth birthday approaches, Baxter inherits a pendant that will change her life. Connected to the pendant is a dark and mysterious young man named Declan Ashdown. Trapped in a Time loop for the past 122 years, Declan needs Baxter’s help to escape. The only problem is, she has no idea how to do it.

To acquire the power she needs to free him, she’ll become one of the Interred, those whose Magical abilities emerge as they come of age. When she does, she’ll discover that Declan isn’t the only one interested in the fact that she’s a Time Bender.

As the Interment arrives, Baxter knows this will be no Sweet Sixteen. A vengeful relative and the ruthless Council are determined to control her. Declan’s powerful and charming descendant, Jack Ashdown, claims he can save her. She’ll soon have to decide who she can trust, and how to master her new abilities before Time runs out.

I am so thrilled to be part of Marilyn Almodovar’s blog tour for her latest book, Interred! When I found out that Marilyn had put together a book playlist for me, I squealed with excitement (It really shouldn’t surprise you guys. I sort of really love my book playlists!) Not only does Interred sound all sorts of phenomenal, but Marilyn has put together a really awesome playlist with a short description on why she chose each song. I have a Spotify playlist made up as well as the YouTube videos for each song. Be sure to let us know what you think of Interred’s Book Playlist in the comments section below and please check out the information for the great giveaway that Marilyn is hosting (all information is at the bottom of this post!)

Playlist for Interred by Marilyn Almodóvar

Starlight, Muse

This was one of the first songs I heard while editing the first draft of Interred. It sort of became a theme, since I could match every verse to every one of the main characters.

The Only Exception, Paramore

This song was the soundtrack in my mind to an earlier version of a scene between Baxter and her mom. Though the scene was later halved and most of the stuff that the song refers to was left out, it still describes how Baxter feels about relationships.

Lightning, The Wanted

I have a serious addiction to TW. (Have you seen The Wanted boys? No? Click on the video now!) *shakes head* That said, this song is just perfect, as I think it describes the relationship between Time Benders and Healers. That connection can get so intense it feels like they might as well be touching lightning.

Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You), Kelly Clarkson

While searching for songs, I came across this one. *coughs* Okay, actually a version of it by the cast of Glee…because I’m totally obsessed with Glee. DON’T.JUDGE.ME. ;) As I listened to it, I could totally hear Baxter singing this at the top of her lungs. This song will probably be included in every single playlist for Chronicles of the Interred, just because it’s so Baxter.

It’s Time, Imagine Dragons

My son has been listening to this song for almost a year. When I actually paid attention to the lyrics, I realized this song fits Jack and Declan and their roles in the book. What I like most about the song is that some verses are just like some passages in the book.

Just a Kiss, Lady Antebellum

Interred’s first draft was action-packed and had very little in the romance department. It took two revisions before I actually considered allowing a romantic scene. I listened to this song over and over again, probably for an hour, while staring at the blank page in order to write that first kiss. Though the focus of the story is not romance, I couldn’t deny my characters a little bit of it. I have to say that Jack Ashdown made a pretty good case, and this song completely helped him get his way.

Marilyn Almodóvar is the author of a series of YA paranormal novels. Born in Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, Lyn is a lover of words whose reading tastes range from Victorian novels to the books of Stephen King. Lyn currently lives in Central Florida with her French husband, English-born eldest son, and French-born youngest son. Her debut YA Novel, Interred, was published by Iambe books on 01/22/2013.

Saying I am a huge fan of today’s band would be one heck of an understatement! I cannot tell you when I first heard Imagine Dragons but I can tell you that it was love, adoration, and obsession all at first listen! Their music has become wildly popular (they’ve been featured on Glee, their music was in The Perks Of Being A Wallflower movie trailer, and one of their songs is now in The Host movie trailer!) and I couldn’t be more happy for them! They are one band I will likely do nothing short of donating an organ to see in concert (but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that!) Anyways, back to the task at hand, introducing you to my absolute favorite songs by Imagine Dragons (even though I love all of their music hardcore!) Enjoy!

It’s Time by Imagine Dragons

If I am looking for an instant mood booster, I turn to this song. It never fails to make even my crappiest moments a whole heck of a lot better!

Bleeding Out by Imagine Dragons

Oh good lord, I freaking LOVE the lyrics to this song. Plus I cannot help but sing this song super loud while I’m driving in the car (well at least, attempt to sing!)

Radioactive by Imagine Dragons

This is the song in The Host trailer, and can I just say perfection!!!

Demons by Imagine Dragons

This is by far my favorite, favorite, FAVORITE song by these guys! I have listened to it about a million and one times and I don’t see the adoration ending any time soon.

Tune In Tuesday (59)

Tune In Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely Ginger @ GReads so you should head on over and link up! It is a great way to bounce from blog to blog and discover what others are listening to! I love music but there is so much out there that I haven’t heard of before. That being said, feel free to leave a link to your Tune-In Tuesday post!

For the whole month of May, Tune In Tuesday is Random Playlist Edition! All you need to do is open up your music library whether it be Amazon Player, Zune, iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, etc. Once you have it open, hit random and let it do the picking! I am still having so much fun with this edition! Seeing all the randomness has been so cool and I have been introduced to a lot of awesome music already! I decided to go along with 3 choices from iTunes and 3 from Spotify again this week so I hope you guys enjoy!

iTunes:

I Swear She’s The One by Sparks The Rescue

I am a fan of this band! I don’t listen to them that often but every time I hear them, I am reminded of how good they are.

Follow Me by Uncle Kracker

My cousins and I played this song over and over again the day of my Great Grandma’s funeral. It brings back so many memories.

On Planet Earth by California King

This was another free purchase from Amazon.com! I really like the emotion that this guy sings with; truly amazing!

Spotify:

Get Away by Yuck

Yuck is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I really like this one by them!

Crash Course by The Spill Canvas

There is just something about this song that I love! It is just so catchy!!!

Demons by Imagine Dragons

This has been my favorite song for the past week or two. I am talking 20 listens per day…at least!
